Magical Watercolor Cuteness

Sketch

This is a little sketch that I was working on today. I’m not sure if  I’m going to paint it or not- I have so many sketches lying around that I never do anything with. Sometimes I will come back to a sketch from months ago and decide that I like it after all. For the above, I think that I liked the idea of a cat better than the execution of it. It really seems more encumbering to the ballerina than what I had wanted. I’m also thinking of putting her on a star instead of a half moon- I actually need to think about it a bit. It is supposed to be more about the movement of the hair and her pose instead of the surroundings.

If I decide to paint her I will probably go with pale pinks and yellow. I really get stuck on color palettes where I will use a very similar color palette for awhile then switch to another one. I can’t use the same color palette or paint the same things always. I have to experiment and try new things. If I am not pushing myself to better then I don’t see the point in continuing my work. This means that when I look back at my work from even a year ago I want to “redo” it because I am positive that I can make it better, but such is the life of an artist I suppose.
